ID:17090160 / One would think that being in the alps and far away from urbanisation results in quietness… but nothing could be less true! While sitting on the south rim of the Gornergrat and overlooking the massive Gorner glacier and Monte Rosa area it sounds like hundreds of cars are passing by below. Not really of course, but the melt water that forces its way through the landscape creates a significant ambient noise level. And in particular during the night, when no-one is around, it appears to be very loud!
ID:18020139 / To show the mighty entrance of the glacier cave, I had to climb deeper into the glacier through some ice blocks that were obstructing the passage. What a stunning view!
ID:18100108 / A foggy sunrise in the central Swiss alps. The alpine landscape unfolds as layers of mountainscapes.
